Everyone knows that heat rises and it is because of this that you can lose up to 25% of your heating through your roof with inadequate loft insulation. The current recommended depth of insulation is 270mm and by having this you will be saving around 1.5 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. Loft Insulation is a very quick and effective insulation measure that takes very little time to complete. Our installers will lay quilts of insulation between the joists and then across the joists. Loft Insulation acts as a blanket, trapping any heat rising from the house below. It is also recognised that as well as keeping your house warmer in winter, having the correct level of loft insulation will keep your home cooler in summer! So you will benefit all year round.
If your loft has not been insulated in the last 10 years, it will most likely require topping up.
If you have no loft insulation and you install the recommended 270mm depth you could save between £180 and £220 per year on your heating bills and nearly 1.5 tonnes of CO2. If your loft requires topping up to the recommended 270mm depth, you could save up to £200 per. year and 400Kg of CO2. These figures are provided by The Energy Saving Trust and are based on an average size property heated by gas. Greater savings can be made in larger properties or those heated by coal or electricity. We also have a loft clearance service available for anyone that is unable to remove storage or vermiculite from their loft themselves.
We use InstaFibre Loft Quilt and it is available in 60mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 170mm and 200mm thickness in widths to suit most joist spaces.
